The CONNOR'S Experience At The X, Bangsar KL

This is the fourth edition of my take for The CONNOR'S Experience (read part 1part 2 and part 3).

It has been awhile since I've last explored the food boundaries of Bangsar. I'm probably missing out a whole lot on the ever-evolving food scene, especially on the hype-iest restaurant openings in the area, one of which would be the newly opened, The X.

The X is a Japanese Fusion restaurant come bistro, serving a mishmash of contemporary recipes.

Being the first non-Western restaurant I've visited as part of The CONNOR'S Experience, I have to say that it made me particularly interested to see how the food here would fare against the bittersweet flavors of the CONNOR'S Stout Porter.

Despite being a Monday evening, I was pleasantly surprised at how occupied the place was - mostly filled by the happy hour crowd that is. Anyhow, I was glad that my neighbouring tables were kept empty, leaving me ample room for photography when the food arrived.

My favorite spot in the restaurant would be this stylish yet cozy private corner, fitted with velvety cushioned seats and plush-armchairs, tucked at one far end of the restaurant. Join me?

My evening with CONNOR'S Stout Porter.
My first Japanese Fusion dish came in the form of this Fish Popiah Wrap (RM32++ with 1 full pint of CONNOR'S Stout Porter), which I thought was just about alright. The pan-grilled battered dory fish had delicate yet firm textures, wrapped with salad and popiah skin, and topped with a dollop of CONNOR'S infused sauce. The combination was sweet and surprisingly filling at the same time.
I really enjoyed The X Steak With CONNOR'S Infused Sauce (RM64++ with 1 full pint of CONNOR'S Stout Porter). The tender 250gm sirloin steak came marinated in mustard sauce, sprinkled with a dash of sugar, then cooked to a medium rare perfection, leaving a thin yet scrumptious crust on top. Delicious! At the side, creamy mashed potato and grilled vegetables drizzled with CONNOR'S infused sauce, which gave the dish a mellow hint of bittersweet finish.
The Rack Of Lamb (RM52++ with 1 full pint of CONNOR'S Stout Porter) was literally gleaming under those spotlights! The grilled lamb chops was succulent, had toothsome textures, and was flavorsome on every mouthful - a terrific showcase of the harmonious pairing of CONNOR'S in its marination and spices. This dish was easily the highlight of my meal, and I'd definitely recommend.
The Japanese Pancake with CONNOR'S Foam (RM28++ with 1 full pint of CONNOR'S Stout Porter) was interesting - CONNOR'S foam on a scoop of ice cream? Now, that's a first. The vanilla ice cream was sweet; the CONNOR'S foam was bittersweet; the Japanese pancake simply added textures to the overall dessert.

Being a Monday evening (blues and all), I was exhausted by the time dinner was done, and the first to hitch a GRAB ride home.
