KO Skincare Specialist Product Review - The Verdict

The Story Behind The Brand
The founder of Dr. Ko Skin Specialist – Dr Ko Chung Beng, spent 17 years in UK and obtained his specialist qualifications prior to his return to Malaysia in 1994. He headed the Dermatology Department of Seremban Hospital until 1997, then founded the KO Skin Specialist which has since been providing a comprehensive range of in-depth services from dermatology to cosmetic surgery.

When he first started out on his own in 1997, KO Skin Specialist was just a little clinic in Klang, located on the first floor of a shop lot. However the effectiveness of his prescriptions soon spread and today, that little clinic is now the headquarters for the 26 clinics of KO Skin Specialist centres across Malaysia. KO Skin Specialist now has their very own formulation of skincare products which are formulated by their team of professionals to combat signs of aging, acne and other skin problems. The centres also offer the most complete range of laser therapy equipment in Asia. No longer just a Malaysian brand, KO Skin Specialist has a branch in Xiamen, China, and will be opening more branches in the future! How’s that for a Malaysian success story?

This is Part II of a two part series. If you've yet to read Part I of my review (KO Skincare Specialist Product Review - The Beauty Haul), please do! You will also be able to find KO's skincare products with reference prices there.

After 3 faithful months of religiously using Dr. KO's skincare products, I have admit, it's hard not to develop my own favorites along the way, ones which are now essential in my daily skincare regime.

There are 4 skincare range available, each with its own distinct functions.

Dermax Clinicare
Dermax Clinicare is well known for its effectiveness in preventing new acne formation. It removes impurities; refines open pores; soothes and heals the skin for an acne-free face.

KO Dermaceutical
KO Dermaceutical is ideal for post-treatment care. It speeds up recovery; protects the skin from sun exposures; combats dullness, pigmentation, dehydration whilst reversing the signs of aging. This range is complement the needs of most skin types.
KO Series
KO Series is able to bridge the gap between acne-prone skin and sensitive skin by offering a gentler option to reduce blemishes.
eKO
eKO series is infused with amaranthus caudatus, one of the best sources of vegetable protein known for its antioxidant and skin revitalization properties.

And these are some of the remaining products that I'm reviewing in this post.

Dermax Bio Defence Sunscreen SPF60 6M 35ml RM180
What I really liked about this cream based sunscreen is its broad spectrum UV protection! The product comes in a light creamy texture and there's no sticky aftermath post application, a definite plus in my books. I normally mix this together with my KO Dermacare Aqua Hydrating Moisturizer I, to be applied during the day. Again, you only need a pump to last you for a whole day.

Dermax Bio Firming Eye Essence 8 15ml RM180
My first bottle of eye essence! This gel-textured product is filled with dipeptide-2, trehalose and hyaluronic acid, to hydrate the eye area and to reduce fine lines. Apply with care and not too near to the eye, it may sting! I use this every alternate day.

KO Dermacare Vitality Purifying Essence I 30ml RM120
The core function of this alcohol-free product is to balance out sebum production. I'm sure you know that oily skin are more prone to pimple and acne outbreaks right? My routine would be to apply a pump of this essence, day and night, right before applying moisturizer.

Let me tell you this, there're simply not many products which actually works on my exceedingly oily skin - this is one of it! I used to blot every hour but no longer need to so frequently anymore. Now, I only do it once in a few hours. If you have oily skin like I do, you should definitely give this product a go.

That, pretty much sums up my short writeup of my KO skincare stash. Again, if you've yet to read Part I of my review, please do so Here.
