The Story Behind The Brand
The founder of Dr. Ko Skin Specialist – Dr Ko Chung Beng, spent 17 years in UK and obtained his specialist qualifications prior to his return to Malaysia in 1994. He headed the Dermatology Department of Seremban Hospital until 1997, then founded the KO Skin Specialist which has since been providing a comprehensive range of in-depth services from dermatology to cosmetic surgery.
When he first started out on his own in 1997, KO Skin Specialist was just a little clinic in Klang, located on the first floor of a shop lot. However the effectiveness of his prescriptions soon spread and today, that little clinic is now the headquarters for the 26 clinics of KO Skin Specialist centres across Malaysia. KO Skin Specialist now has their very own formulation of skincare products which are formulated by their team of professionals to combat signs of aging, acne and other skin problems. The centres also offer the most complete range of laser therapy equipment in Asia. No longer just a Malaysian brand, KO Skin Specialist has a branch in Xiamen, China, and will be opening more branches in the future! How’s that for a Malaysian success story?

Just a bit of a background check - I have acne, oily and sensitive skin, admittedly the worst skin combination to have, ever. Hence, most of the beauty reviews you read in this blog, are very much tailored to treat just that.

Dermax Clinicare is well known for its effectiveness in preventing new acne formation. It removes impurities; refines open pores; soothes and heals the skin for an acne-free face.
KO Dermaceutical
KO Dermaceutical is ideal for post-treatment care. It speeds up recovery; protects the skin from sun exposures; combats dullness, pigmentation, dehydration whilst reversing the signs of aging. This range is complement the needs of most skin types.
KO Series
KO Series is able to bridge the gap between acne-prone skin and sensitive skin by offering a gentler option to reduce blemishes.
eKO
eKO series is infused with amaranthus caudatus, one of the best sources of vegetable protein known for its antioxidant and skin revitalization properties.

Dermax Bio Balance Toner 2 120ml RM120
The product's key ingredients include hazel extract, raspberry fruit water, aloe extract, cucumber extract and trehalose, which are all soothing ingredients. This toner is suitable for normal, dry and sensitive skin types. However, for those who are sensitive to fruit-based ingredients, you may want to shy away from this product.
KO Dermacare Aqua Hydrating Moisturizer I 60g RM280
This is by far one of my favorite product of the loot. It has become one of my daily essentials since I started using it 3 months back, and does a fantastic job for my oily and acne prone skin. This water-based moisturizer is fit for day or night use, and have particles so fine that I don't even need to massage the product in for optimum absorbtion. It seeps easily into those dehydrated pores!

KO Dermacare Purifying Cleansing Gel 220ml RM198
Like the name suggest, this is a purifying cleanser, jam-packed with cucumber and gingko biloba extract. It can also be used as a makeup remover, but you'd have to double cleanse. The product is suitable for all skin types and it did not make my sensitive and acne skin break out.
