Huckleberry Food And Fare

I walked towards a then bustling Huckleberry Food & Fare. It was peak lunch hour on a Thursday afternoon, eve of Hari Raya. Being still an official working day, I figured I beat half the holiday crowd to sample some of the distinctive Artisanal breads being offered here.

Now, I have to reiterate that this is in fact a bakery come cafe, so do order some bread, be it a burger or a toast, I would pass on the Mac & Cheese.

By the way, there's always a queue at Huckleberry - new clutter; new hype. Be prepared to wait!

Adding some chic to an otherwise dull background.

Huckleberry Food & Fare Menu & Prices.

The ordering system was - order and pay at the counter, then wait for food to be served. We didn't have to wait long for ours.

Tea & Infusions. Rm6.90 - Rm9.90.

Chili Cheese Toast. Rm13.90.

An interesting combination to begin with - grilled toast with bechamel, spring onions, green chilies, sambal and an egg. I liked that it wasn't as spicy as I thought it would be, but I felt that the bread was tad over-toasted.

Housemade Salted Beef Sandwich. Rm32.90.

The shreds of salted beef was smashing! Sandwiched between special rye caraway bread and mustard spread, I figured it could do with some sauce to balance out the drier textures but it was a pleasant sandwich overall.

Overall Rating: 7/10. My meal here was enjoyable, though nothing fantastic, but a little more distinctive compared to the conventional cafes in town - artisanal breads as highlights. Having said that, the breads here felt slightly drier than what I'm accustomed too, personal preference perhaps. For those who enjoy breads, like me, Huckleberry Food & Fare is worth a visit.

The same corner shoplot that used to house The Moon Bar, Huckleberry is located along the same stretch as Bandits Coffee Bar and ARIA Italian Restuarant, facing the main roads.
