Croissant Delicatessen @ Plaza Damas Sri Hartamas - Good Croissants In KL

best croissants in pj and kl

I love croissants. Think - flaky and buttery shell with a fluffy middle, and - it has to smell fantastic.

However, opening a cafe with a niche in croissants seemed like a risky affair. There're simply not many good croissants in town. How'd Croissant Delicatessen fair?

Croissant Delicatessen

The owners are ex-bankers, Oliver and Hui Wei, starting off a new venture that is barely a few weeks old.

You'd get the freshest bakes of croissants here, free of artificial coloring and preservatives. The same supplier exports locally baked croissants to Australian bakeries and cafes as well.

Tip to store and preserve croissants: Store plain croissant in cling wrap overnight, air-tight in the fridge. And all you have to do is sprinkle some water on it before toasting it up in the oven the next day.

Croissant Delicatessen uses Japanese coffee beans, the same variety used in WA Cafe Pavilion.

The green tea latte deserves specific mention here. It was delightfully fragrant, a little powdery and not as milky compared to the rest I've had, a definite plus in my books. Please order this!

Green Tea Latte (Rm9). Latte (Rm10). Cappuccino (Rm10).

There are 4 types of flavored croissants. Pick between - Classic Butter, Garlic, Pumpkin and Wasabi. Flavors are extremely mild. My favorite? Garlic. I mean, where else can you get flavored croissants?

On to the ones with fillings. There are currently 7 savory and 1 sweet variety in their menu.

Turkey Ham, Broccoli and Cheese. Rm14.80.

Pumpkin, Mushroom and Ham. Rm13.80.

Garlic and Basil Chicken. Rm16.80.

Grilled German Bratwurst. Rm15.80.

Supreme Egg Mayo with Smoked Salmon. Rm13.80.

Mixed Berries Chantilly. Rm14.80.

Overall Rating: 7/10. Croissant wise - do not expect overly fluffy and flaky croissants here, its baked free from preservatives, hence it wouldn't be as toothsome as others. The texture of the plain ones were exceptional however, especially the garlic and classic ones. Fillings wise - my favorites? Pumpkin Mushroom and Ham - the grilled pumpkin was very nicely sauteed and you'd get this distinct chew to it. I really liked the Grilled German Bratwurst as well. The sausage were sweet, topped with torched cheese. All the croissants come with a side salad and chips. Something different? Nachos would be nice. Croissant Delicatessen are in the midst of tweaking and adding more sweet croissants in the menu. So be prepared for more exciting things to come!
