Yeast @ Bangsar KL

There's a popular saying - pardon my French.

And so that's how I felt when I was ordering. It doesn't exactly make you sound any more intellectual, really - pronouncing those sophisticated names of French dishes I mean.

Pointing on the menu would do for now.

Yeast

While Bangsar still remain notorious for it's horrible double-parking standards, we were lucky enough to find a parking spot right in front of the restaurant. Small things like these, really does set the tone for a great weekend ahead isn't it?

Yeast - a simple French Boulangerie and Bistro opened its doors in 2012. Serving variations of gourmet French cuisine, French wines and of course, French breads. I was there today, to try out their breakfast menu.

Not missing the unmistakeable yellow neon signboard of Yeast - made ultra glaring amongst the black, brown and whites in the area. Smart move!

It was 12pm and the place was bustling with weekend-goers and brunch-lovers, grabbing their dose of morning coffee and breakfast. Some hung around the doorway, waiting for an available seat and some early-comers was in the midst of finishing off that last bite.

Gracing the entrance to Yeast - the boulangerie. The scent of freshly baked breads ensued upon stepping into Yeast. And a mini Christmas tree! My-oh-my, the sight of anything Christmas-like nowadays, really do make me feel jolly.

Breakfast always start with a cuppa.

Latte. Rm10.

Cappuccino. Rm10.

I'm not a coffee connoisseur, but this tasted pretty good to me.

Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon. Rm22.

Plating wise - I was enthralled. Two delicate blob of poached eggs drenched in hollandaise sauce, on generous foldings of smoked salmon and brioche toast.

I burst the egg with my knife but was utterly disappointed. It was barely poached, more like soft boil egg - a hard shell with a gooey centre, without the oozing egg yolk.

Le Croque Madame. Rm26.

You have to try the Croque Madame. It was heavenly - toothsome textures and amazing flavours. Hallelujah.

Grilled turkey ham with a layer of addictive béchamel sauce, slapped between a nicely toasted bread, topped with grilled cheese and a fried egg.

I've tasted many versions before, which most were a tad too sour for my liking, from the cheese perhaps. This was close to perfection - at least it is for me.

The dish also comes with fries, salad, tomato and aioli dip at the side. Don't forget to give the aioli dip a go, those were fabulous too.

Overall Rating: 7/10. If not for the disappointing poached egg, I would've enjoyed my meal far more. Full praises for the Croque Madame no less.
