My Experience With Travel Recommends : Does It Really Work?

For the past couple of years, I have been relying heavily on pocket WiFis when I travel, mainly for the usage of navigation on google maps (reading manual maps were never my forte) and also for active updates on my social media. I am, afterall, a social media addict, or so they call it.

Since 2017, Travel Recommends have reliably kept me connected, throughout my holidays overseas, many-many times. More of my #TravelwithWiFi experiences a little later.

One thing I really like about having a pocket WiFi device is the ability to share it's usage between friends and family, making it way more cost efficient.

Usually I'd opt to self-collect my wifi device right before my flight. The newest booth in KLIA2 is conveniently located at the departure gate. Fret not, as they also offer courier or delivery right to your doorstep.

Now, on to my #TravelwithWiFi experiences.

Throughout the years, I have probably used Travel Recommends the most, in Bangkok. I was strolling the bustling streets of the Land of Smiles just last month, happily connected 24/7. To be very honest, I don't even use the hotel WiFis anymore.

Breakfast at Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit.
Dinner at Belga Bangkok.

I also visited Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai earlier this year, and was kept connected throughout my stay. My internet speed was running strong while I was on the roads, during my day tour from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai.

Breakfast at ibis style chiang mai.
Breakfast at Akha Ama Coffee while overlooking the temples.

In 2017, I made a solo quest to climb The Great Wall of China, in Beijing. For a solo female traveller, having internet connectivity was of utmost importance. At least, in the perspective of safety, I always have a mode of communication. Do note that the device does not include VPN access.

My solo quest to climb The Great Wall of China, Beijing.

Having seen all of that, I vaguely remembered the very first time I used a Travel Recommends device was when I travelled Hong Kong, in 2017.

This was my favorite picture taken in this trip, in possibly the most instagrammed location in Hong Kong, at Yick Cheong Building, Quarry Bay.

Till my next trip with Travel Recommends. xoxo.
