Aftermeal Desserts - The Best Dessert In PJ?

Desserts like these, I don't feel guilty, I was pleasured on every mouthful.

I stepped foot into Aftermeal Desserts that lovely afternoon, straight after hefty lunch. Perhaps a tad early to have an aftermeal dessert, but like they say, there's always space for a sweet treat.

Taglined as - serving happiness, one bowl at a time, Aftermeal Desserts pride themselves for their signature, soft and chewy, handcrafted Taro Mochi, made fresh, in house, everyday.

The menu here consists of signatures that are available daily, with a possibility of one or two exciting flavors in the next couple of months. There, I had a go at few of the more popular desserts in the menu. Tip : Bring a friend, portions are huge.

Meant to be shared, the Iron Lady Milk Tea Kakigori (RM22.00) was the most popular dessert here, made perfect for the scorching weather. The shaved ice was made from a premium blend of tie guan yin and milk - not too milk nor too sweet, and at the side, a dainty bowl of housemade taro mochi topped with chewy pearls.
This was my favorite : Classic Calamansi Yokan (RM16). The dessert came beautifully layed with calamansi yokan, chewy white pearls, longan, and topped with a slice of lemon. Underneath, calamansi infused shaved ice with sea coconut. This was definitely a refreshing treat - sweet and ever so lightly sour. I like this - a lot.
You can't go wrong with the Classic Grass Jelly (RM16.00), that came topped with red bean and almond slices. At the side, the brown sugar fresh milk adds flavor; the taro mochi adds texture. I didn't need the added pour of milk, the grass jelly was already good on it's own. If you like grass jelly, this is a must try.
Opt to have the Bentong Ginger Soup with Black Sesame Glutinous Rice Ball (RM16.00) in light, normal or spicy notes. I had the spicy one. I thought they did a great job with all the mochi here - the rice balls were sticky, nicely done and had a good balance of sweet and slightly bitter flavors. The taro mochi was served with peanut brittles, giving it an even more toothsome texture. I'd easily choose this over the pearls.

After all of that, like the title suggests, "Is Aftermeal Dessert - The Best Dessert In PJ?".

For me? Perhaps. I can confidently vouched that the shaved ice was one of the better variants that I have had, and also not leaving out the housemade Taro Mochi, which I thought had great-great textures. Everything that I had was worth finishing, but my surprising favorite would be the Classic Calamansi Yokan, which I can easily polish up on my own.

Now, are you ready to challenge my claim?
