The World's Smallest Chef KL - Le Petit Chef, In The Footsteps of Marco Polo

I like dining experiences like this - something a little different; something to remember.

Priced at RM299.00, the Marco Polo's Journey is a 90-minute, 3D unparalleled dining experience, serving 6 international dishes, in a culinary journey across 5 different regions - Middle East, India, Himalaya, China and France.

For a heightened experience, there is also the Marco Polo's Expedition at RM499.00 and Marco Polo's Around The World at RM999.00. Children between age 6-12 dine at RM99.00. Bookings are absolutely essential and can be done via the Le Petit Chef Official Website Here.

At 5.00pm, I was brought into a dimly-lit room, and I was ready as ever to feast.

FIRST COURSE : THE JOURNEY  BEGINS

Pacific Oyster Cream | Fourme d'Amber, toasted walnut brioche, honeycomb

SECOND COURSE : MIDDLE EASTERN

Charcoal roasted beetroot, chickpea hummus, parsley, feta cheese | Marinated lamb, shallots, pomegranate, yoghurt dip | Lebanese onion, raisins, smoked duck, hazelnut

The next course came scrumptiously plated - or should I say 'bowl-ed', in multiple dainty colorful sampling bowls - so visually appetizing. This was also my favorite course of this dinner.

THIRD COURSE : INDIA

Rasam, green lentil, mint leaf, deep fried sweet neem leaves | Polos salmon, green pea masala, curry leaf, spicy shallot | Rice idli, tikka chutney, kurkuri bhindi, salted chili

Like most Indian dishes, this course came with plenty of spices and flavors.

FOURTH COURSE : HIMALAYAN

NO2 raspberry sorbet, kaffir lime soda, mint jelly

The next course was essentially a palate cleanser, which neutralized the heavier and richer notes in the earlier parts of the dinner. This was a refreshing treat.

FIFTH COURSE : CHINA

Corn fed chicken, monkey ear mushroom, candied ginger, mushroom foam, baby leek, flat rice noodle

SIXTH COURSE : FRANCE

Tonko creme brulee, chocolate mousse, blackberry, freeze dried orange

Last but not least, the last course came in the form of a dessert, a beautifully made one also. The 3D animation mapping that happened right before every course, depicts not only Marco Polo's jouney but also how each dish was made and derived.

I thought the dinner was heavier in the beginning, hence it felt a bit more like a Middle Eastern and Indian food affair, with plenty of spices and heavy flavors, before tappering off into lighter note, into dishes from Himalaya, China and France. Food was good, but nothing exceptionally different. It was more of a five senses kind of dinner, where the overall dining experience, especially the 3D animations, plays a larger role than just the food itself.

Thank you Le Petit Chef for the dining experience.
