Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit - BELGA & Le SPA & Le Macaron & Voila

I made a short trip to Bangkok recently and stayed at Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit. Read more about my previous Bangkok experience Here.

Throughout my stay, I got to have dinner at one of the best brasserie's and rooftop bars in Bangkok, at BELGA Rooftop Bar & Brasserie; classic afternoon high tea, at Le Macaron; and a massage at one of the best spa in Bangkok, at Le SPA with L'Occitane.

Here are some of my favorites pictures taken during my stay.

SIGNATURE DISHES

For the Best Belgian Brasserie in Bangkok.

belgian draft beers | moules frites (mussels) | bruxelles waffles

It's not everyday that I get to enjoy a Belgian feast, let alone on a rooftop setting. The day's dinner was marvelous. The Belgian draft beers and signature mussels are a must-have here; the Steamed Cod Fish was my favorite; and the Braised Beef was flavorsome on every bite. Take a picture or two while you're at it, and have a drink at the rooftop bar outdoors if weather permits.

If you're looking for something bold, I'd recommend the Kasteel Blonde (THB190)
If you are looking for something exceedingly light and sweet, I'd recommend the Liermans Fruitesse (THB200).
This pot of mussels - was the freshest I have had to date. I chose the Moules Hoegaarden (THB590) simply because it was one of their most popular dish in the menu, and came with a wholesome broth made out of white beer and cream. I could easily finish this all on my own. It was that good!
I ordered the half portion which was good enough for two to share.
Each order of the 'moules' or mussels, came complemented with a serving of steak frites. Here, I got to choose the type of condiments that would go alongside the mayonnaise dipping sauce. I had mine with truffle oil. It was so-so addictive.
The Carbonnade a la Flammande (THB790), or Braised Beef with stout beer, pancetta and mustard, was delicious on every mouthful. It came with polenta and croutons at the side. The beef was tender and the gravy was flavorful. Portion was large and good enough for two.
For me, the Steamed Cod Fish (THB690) was one of the favorites of my meal. The fish was incredibly fresh and flaked beautifully. Underneath, potatoes, fennel, grapes, in a moreish fish veloute.
Opt for either the Cheese (THB290 a la carte) or the Grey Shrimp (THB350 a la carte) croquettes, but I'd highly suggest getting the Mixed Croquettes (THB420), that comes with both to taste. This could get real filling.
The Salade De Chicons (THB290) was a very light salad. The sourness from the green apple and celery bits cuts through the richness from the rest of the dishes very well.
Now the Bruxelles Waffles (THB250) was quite different from the regular waffles that I'm accustomed to. The Belgian renditions came lighter, airy and sprinkled with icing sugar. At the side, chantilly cream and Belgian dark chocolate sauce.
The Dame Blanche (THB250) was a vanilla ice cream dessert, served with swirls of chantily cream and Belgian chocolate sauce, alongside peanut and meringue crisp on top. If I were to pick one dessert to go for - this is it.

Relaxing Aromachology Massage, at THB2,800, for 60 minutes.

My friends have been telling me heaps about Le SPA, on how much they enjoyed their spa session. So while being here, I thought I'd grasp the chance to try it out for myself. The spa is always busy so bookings are absolutely necessary. Upon stepping foot into Le Spa that afternoon, I immediately felt a sense of calmness. There's just something about L'Occitane's aromatherapy oils that eases the mind. A small cup of ginger tea was served before the session and a lavender tea after. I chose a relaxing massage simply because my body felt tad sore after all the exploring and walking. It was 60-minutes of pure bliss.

CLASSIC AFTERNOON TEA

For A Simple Afternoon High Tea in Bangkok.

chocolate pralines | mini strawberry tarts with cream | macarons | blueberry cheesecake | mini chocolate eclairs | cookies | chocolate fudge w ganache | scones w jam | coffee / tea / juices

After a very relaxing spa session earlier during the day, I headed over to Le Macaron for a Parisian inspired afternoon high tea session. It was a tad warm that evening hence I decided to sit indoors. Before I knew it, a high tea stand filled with sweet treats was placed in front of me, alongside a pot of Dilmah Tea, Iced and Hot Coffee. It was a seriously happy sight. I spend the next hour or so nibbling on tarts and cakes while sipping on artisan tea - must try the scones. This was such a delightful treat.

Classic Afternoon Tea Set for Two. Comes with coffee and tea.

If you are looking for convenience amidst the bustling Sukhumvit area, and a penny more to spare, I'd recommend Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit. Thank you again for having me.
