Wizards Cafe At Tribeca @ Jalan Imbi KL - I Think I Finally Got My Food Mojo Back.

It has been awhile since I have last visited a cafe that was worthy of mentioning on this blog. While I have not had much luck with my food escapades of late, the title of this blogpost suggested otherwise - I think I finally got my food mojo back.

I recently dropped by Wizards at Tribeca (gosh, tribeca, really, so New York-ish), in Jalan Imbi, for a taste of their much sought after breakfast fare, including one that involved foie gras - there's just someting about these breakfast combinations that got me intrigued.

From the makers behind Red Bean Bag and Yellow Brick Road, I expected nothing less.

While I flipped through the menu, I noticed that prices were a little steeper compared to some other cafes in town, but when I ran through the description of ingredients used, it'd probably justified the added penny overall.

For drinks, I ordered a Flat White (RM12) and Cascara Soda (RM18), one of the favorites here, though I felt that it was really nothing to shout about.

Although the serving of the Wizards Foie Gras Broiche (RM44) came rather small, the dish was essentially rich, and the combination worked well together.

The cut of foie gras was nicely done; the broiche was sweet; the creamy duxelle mushrooms was flavorful; the slightly sour mixed berries reduction balanced out the richness; and the crispy bacon simply added textures to the overall dish.

I could have savoured this dish a little longer but it really didn't take me long to polish the entire plate up.

On the Eggs Royale (RM30), lightly smoked salmon, avocado and cherry tomatoes, on a French sourdough, with two poached eggs plopped on top, drenched in Hollandaise sauce.

I thought that the bonito flakes added a nice smoky aroma and taste to the dish. It was also my first time having deep fried kale and I really liked it - salty on the first crunch and a bitter aftertaste later.

I hung around a little while more after finishing my food.

The ambiance and settings were perfect for picture taking. Unfortunately I wasn't dressed to impressed, hence no photographs of me were taken that day.

Overall Rating: 8/10. Food was good and I'd recommend what I had. Let's keep the food mojo flowing shall we?
