I have been to Mr. Dakgalbi numerous times, and have had great dining experiences along the way, but strangely, have not gotten around to writing about it yet. So when I received an invitation to review one of their new menu just recently, I thought, why not?

Mr. Dakgalbi is possibly one of the most popular, if not the best dakgalbi restaurant in town. There are 16 Mr. Dakgalbi branches scattered across the Klang Valley to date, with the latest opening at Pearl Point Shopping Gallery, in which I had this food tasting at.

The new Cheese Ring Promo Set (RM76) that I sampled, was nothing out of the ordinary (I'm sure you have seen this some place else before), however I thought that Mr. Dakgalbi's rendition was pretty darn good and packed full of flavors.

The set came with a signature medium-sized serving of stir-fried marinated pan-grilled chicken, coated in chili pepper paste (and no, it didn't burn the tongue), alongside a variation of rice cakes, potato cakes, cabbage and ramen, readily prepared in a round cast iron pan.

The feast was cooked right before my eyes, by the waiter, and it was fast. I was feeling extremely ravenous by then, and couldn't wait to dig in.

The best part of this dish would probably be the circle of melted cheese. For me, it leaned more towards the savoury end but tasted quite alright overall.

Have it either on it's own, or wrapped around a piece of spicy dakgalbi. In culinary manner, there were plenty of swirling and twirling throughout the meal. Tip: Eat it while it's still gooey and hot!

The fried rice was cooked right at the end, soaking up all the flavors from the dakgalbi. I can never get enough of those crusty and charry bits at the bottom.

Apart from the food, I also had a go at these cute cans of Pokemon Fizzy Drinks (RM7). There are 8 flavors to chose from in store, and I had the Muscat Grape and Pear flavored ones.

The meal that I had above, was more than enough to satisfy an appetite for 2. But of course the bigger groups can either opt to upgrade to the large-sized Cheese Ring promo set, or order from the standard Mr. Dakgalbi menu.

menu and price

I will happily return to Mr. Dakgalbi for another feast, and would even consider ordering the same dish again.
