Grub by Ahong & Friends @ Section 17 PJ - Comfort Food For My Soul.

It has been awhile since I've written about food and gosh - I really miss doing so.

Just last weekend, I visited the newly opened Grub for dinner, located at the slightly quieter side of Section 17, and right opposite Tujoh Cafe.

Grub by Ahong & Friends, serves classic Western dishes with a local twist, and also what I thought to be comfort food for my soul.

This was easily one of the most enjoyable meal I've had in awhile, with each dish having it's own story to tell. The dishes were plated beautifully, alongside simple tastes and textures which complimented each other. Plus, dining here was no-frills, no-fuss, though a little confusing in the beginning, but I got the hang of self-servicing after awhile.

Oh, I also think I spotted Ahong along the way.

First up, I ordered a serving of Steak Cut Chips (RM4) to share, and I couldn't stop munching on these!
The New York Strip (RM39) had spectacular flavors and textures. The glistening 300gm striploin was very nicely executed, done medium rare as requested, and best eaten with the sweet and sour garnish on top. The dish also comes with steak cut chips.
Now, I have never been a huge fan of breast meat, but these were one of the juiciest and tenderest ones I've had. The Quarter Roast Chicken (RM22) came ploped on a bed of pomme puree and roasted vegetables. At the side, a fluffy sourdough bun.
Although not as standout as the rest of the dishes I had that evening, the Local Seafood Bouillabaisse (RM25) was an equal pleasure to devour. The simple pasta dish consisted of grilled white fish fillet, clams, squid and prawns in a seafood soup that was enhanced with a hint of spice.
The complimentary fruit platter was possibly one of the swankiest-looking one around. And yes, you heard right, it's on the house.

Overall Rating: 8.5/10. I really enjoyed my meal here, it was clearly value for money, and I would definitely revisit real soon. Tip: Sit upstairs. It may get a little warm downstairs.
