The Entertainer App Featuring Southern Rock Seafood @ Bangsar KL

It was an evening of seafood galore, filled with a plethora of the crustacean kind, and flooded with loads of laughter in between. Needless to say, I have not had that much seafood in awhile.

Located along a slightly less commercialized stretch of shop lots in Bangsar, Southern Rock Seafood have been around for a good couple of years, offering what they say - one the freshest selection of oysters and seafood in town, all day long.

I was there that evening, as part a social media collaboration with the Entertainer App, a value for money app, packed with over 1,200 buy-1-free-1 offers for hotels, restaurants, cafes, attractions, beauty and spas, retail purchases and many more. Readers get to enjoy a further 10% discount off RM75 (normal price RM145), by keying in ENTERTAINER17.

The dishes featured in this write-up (apart from the oysters), are all part of the buy-1-free-1 deal, currently available on the Entertainer App (available on IOS or Google Play Store), or on www.theentertainerme.com.

Sit at the bar or pick a table to dine at. I really liked the casual yet cozy ambiance where I could comfortably tuck in, and eat with my bare hands. There's nothing quite like eating seafood with bare hands, trust me.

The Roasted Mix Seafood (RM68) was probably my favorite of the meal, consisting of an assortment of deliciously grilled seafood, tossed lightly in garlic and olive oil, and cooked in a fruit-wood charcoal oven. No wonder the meat tasted so sweet!
The Angel Hair Mussel Laksa (RM36) was one of the signature dishes served that evening and boy - having a bowl of warm noodles felt exceptionally good after a long day at work! The broth tasted more savory than sweet, creamy without being overly fiery, though not quite like laksa broth I'm usually accustomed to. Personal preference aside, this dish would make a good choice for those wanting to have something a bit more Asian.
Roasted Tiger Prawns (RM52) in lemon and butter sauce.
The Skillet Roast Whole Sea Bass (RM110) was nicely grilled and had toothsome textures overall. The dish could lean more towards the saltier end however. Tip: beware of the tiny pin bones!
You can't go wrong with a big breakfast dish like this! The SRS Breakfast (RM38) came neatly arranged with hot smoked salmon, scrambled eggs on toasts, potato confit, roasted tomatoes and Portobello mushrooms, served on a chopping board.
The Grilled Ocean Trout (RM65) looked divine, beautifully laden amidst the medley of sweet greens at the side. I thought the fish had firmer textures compared to the rest, but had more flavors overall.

I had a fun taste of crustacean that evening, and was stuffed by the time I was done with our meal, evident from the pile of empty shells left on my plate. Thank you for having me once again.
