Thai Hou Sek @ 1 Utama - Really Hou Sek Woh.

After an exciting though tiresome stream of travelling plans in the past of couple of weeks, I'm finally back in tune with some food blogging. Oh how I've missed writing about food!

It was my first time at Thai Hou Sek, a Thai-Chinese fusion restaurant, and I really enjoyed my meal here. Plus, I had a great time catching up with a close friend. And as usual, we over-ordered.

For me, the food here felt more Thai than Chinese, though I'm not complaining, obviously.

I enjoyed THS's rendition of the traditional Thai Mieng Kam (RM15), daintily wrapped in cilantro leafs. This one had bites of pork lard in it. It could get a little messy - eat with care.
The Bacon-fied Pomelo Salad (RM22) came with huge chunks of pomelo and salad, topped with crispy pork bacon and toasted shredded coconut. It was a delicious combination though I felt that it was way too citrusy towards the end.
We also shared a serving of Pad Thai With Seafood & Bacon (RM22). Almost every dish we had, had bacon in it.
The Super Pork & Pumpkin Green Curry (RM22) was more sweet than savoury, intensely flavorsome, and came with slices of pork shoulder and pumpkin beneath.
As everyone knows (or maybe not), my tastebuds can't exactly tolerate spicy food. Hence, it's quite hard for me to enjoy Tomyum, as most renditions are typically hot. THS's version of Seafood Tom Yum (RM24) was hot - so hot, though I actually found it quite tasty.
With not much tummy space left for dessert, we shared a serving Tab Tim Krob (RM11). It came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, topped with red rubbies, jackfruit, mango slices and trimmings of toasted coconut, in a pool of coconut milk. This was quite a refreshing treat.
Asamboi Lemongrass (RM10). Coconut Lychee (RM10).

Overall Rating: 8/10. This Thai-Chinese restaurant could possibly be one of my favorites around, alongside Kompassion.
