Nippori @ Empire Damansara PJ - Homecooked Japanese Food.

After blogging a whole lot about my travelling rendezvous, I figured it's time I got my food-writing groove back.

About a fortnight back, I dropped by Empire Damansara for a casual hair photoshoot, followed by quick lunch at Nippori, a tiny home-cooked Japanese restaurant tucked at one quiet corner of Heritage Lane.

I then posted about my less-than-satisfying (meaning it wasn't that great...) experience here on my facebook page, only to be told that I was the odd one out - most of my friends enjoyed their meal here.

Maybe it was my perculiar tastebuds that afternoon, or perhaps it was because I had to eat in a rush. I only had 30 minutes to eat because the table was booked after that. Remember to make reservations!

Me and a friend ordered 2 sets to share.

The Juicy Chicken Katsu (RM35) came with 3 huge sticks of thick-cut chicken breast, deep fried to a golden brown color, then dipped in homemade miso sauce. The chicken was juicy and tender, thought the miso sauce was a tad too sweet. It was still delicious overall.

The Grilled Salmon (RM38) on the other hand felt exceedingly average for me. The 2 flimsy slices of salmon in homemade teriyaki sauce came a hint too sweet for my liking, and clearly letdown by the lack of size.

It was obvious that prices do not come cheap too. It may look like a lot (possibly from my photography skills, ahem.), but the dainty plates are deceiving on it's own. There was not much to go around. Having said that, I thought that the portion served came just right for my appetite that afternoon.

Overall Rating: 7/10. Unfortunately for me, my meal here didn't quite felt as worthy as what my friends claimed it would be.
