Coffeesmith Malaysia @ Damansara Uptown PJ - Just About Average.

It was the second day of Chinese New Year when I ventured out for brunch. Yes, it's time to take a short break from the neverending flow of Chinese delicacies.

Being a public holiday and all, there were really not many places to pick from, most were still on festive break. Fortunately for me, Coffeesmith was open. The Italian inspired cafe is situated within the bustling Damansara Uptown, along the same stretch as Starbucks. Parking would obviously be a hassle when the crowd returns.

Me and my friend were the first to arrive that morning, leaving us with plenty of options on seating arrangements.

We decided with the high tables right next to the entrance.

We shared a serving of Spain Potato Vegetable Bake Egg (RM27.56) (c'mon guys, how unattractive can a dish name get?). The bowl of vegetables tasted quite alright, though I couldn't exactly tell what I was having - sausages, mushrooms, potatoes and an assorted of vegetables, in a pool of savory sauce. Obviously, I wasn't a fan. At the side - fries, bread and fruit yogurt.

The Seasonal Fruit Waffle (RM18.02) too wasn't awe-inspiring. The fruits were a refreshing addition, the vanilla ice cream nice, and the presentation was on-point. Having said that, the waffle was just way to crisp - it didn't have that fluffy, toasty and milky aftertaste that I was really looking forward to.

Overall Rating: 6.5/10. The food felt just about average, not exactly Italian if you'd asked me, it felt more Western. I'm sure there're other cafes in Damansara Uptown worth looking out for.
