Having hooded eyelids (also known as inner double eyelids or 内双眼皮 in chinese) would meant that it's close to impossible for my double eyelids to show, especially after applying eye makeup (my eyeliner and eyeshadow disappears!).
Asymmetrical eyes? Yes I have that too. One is bigger than the other; my left is bigger than the right.
Hence, my decision to go for DST was mainly to give my hidden eyelids a bit of an easy lift, as well as to tweak the imbalance of my loop-sided eyes. Now, what exactly is DST?

❤ What Is DST? ❤
Double Suture and Twist ("DST") is minimally invasive double eyelid procedure that is invented in Japan.
The procedure involves making 3 small punctures on the upper eyelid, then two sutures are passed through and twisted, before being tied together to create a fold on the upper eyelid.

My procedure was performed by Dr David, one of the pioneers of DST in Malaysia. Having gone through 3 Laser Treatments with him in the past, I knew I was in capable hands.
Furthermore, DST is the most popular procedure at ME Aesthetic Clinic, hence it is of no surprise that I decided to have my procedure done here.

Choosing the best possible double eyelid - Low/Medium/High and Tapered/Parallel crease.
I have to note however, that I initially wanted parellel eyelids, but that was simply not possible with my current eyelid condition. The one way to transform tapered to parellel, would be to go for Epicanthoplasty Surgery, which is invasive in nature. Remember to consult the experts!
❤ The DST Procedure ❤
Prior to the procedure, I was told not to consume any alcohol, gingko and vitamin E supplements for at least a few days, and not to apply any make up on the day of the procedure.
Dr David started the procedure by drawing reference lines around my eyes, and subsequently applying a layer of antiseptic on to the top half of my face, as a disinfectant.
I was told to keep my eyes shut at all times, and when my eyelids were pried open - that's when my nerves started to kick in. Despite feeling a little anxious, I think I was more excited to see the outcome than to think about the overall procedure.
I was given a pillow to hug and the nurse was there to hold my hand (do not underestimate the power of the hand).
There were 6 anesthesia injections done on each eye - 3 at the top part of the lid and 3 at the bottom part of the lid. I have to admit, on my extremely fragile and sensitive eyes, I did feel a little pain. Having said that, the pain only lasted for about 10 seconds and I couldn't feel anything after that, apart from a strange sensation of someone tugging on my eyelids.
Before I knew it, I was done. The whole procedure took 30 minutes to complete. I was given an ice pack after that, to cool down the swelling of the eyes.
Before I left, they gave me a tub of ointment, painkillers (which I didn't take at all) and a 3 day dose of antibiotics to finish.
I didn't experience any pain by the time the anesthesia wore off, though my eyelids felt extremely heavy, puffy and swollen after that. I didn't want to put any extra strain on the eyes by forcing my it open, so I camouflaged the puffiness with my good ol' spectacles, with my eyes half open. I went shopping after that. It's all good guys.
Very Important Tip: Relax, hum to the music playing at the background, and think about how beautiful the eyes would be after everything is healed up nicely.
❤ The Healing Process ❤
The entire healing process took only about 1 week and optimum results can be seen in 2 weeks.
Ice packs are crucial in the healing process. To reduce the swelling, I placed ice packs on my eyelids for 10 minutes, in every 2 hour intervals. This went on for about a week.
My eyelids felt relatively heavy and swollen for the first few days, but gradually subsided in the next 5 days and I was able to wear contact lenses and makeup from the 7th day onwards. I was told that it's safe to wear contact lenses, even a day after the procedure. Remember to be gentle!
Note: If there're signs of discomfort or pain, please consult the doctor immediately.

I experienced a bit of bruising on the corner of my left eye, and because of how un-glam it looked, I decided not to post any photographs of the healing process. Not to worry however - slight bruising is very common, especially around the wound area.

❤ The Results ❤
I'm really happy with how things turned out - no more hooded eyelids and no more asymmetry eyes!
Plus, my friends have been telling me that my eyes have a twink of sparkle now, as though it has been opened-up.
Make up application too, have been a lot more simpler and easier. I no longer have spend so much time balancing out the thickness of my eyeliner and can finally draw my waterline at ease.
Having said that, I wouldn't say I went through a drastic transformation but rather, a subtle enhancement. I didn't have single eyelid or really small eyes to begin with, so the change was merely indistinct.

If you've also noticed from the photographs above, I've also got a slightly sharper jawline now, all thanks to the small amount of Botox Injection on my jaw area, slightly over 2 months back. Optimum results can be seen after 4 weeks and best results, after 2 months. Botox would generally lasts for about 9-12 months. Bye bye chubby cheeks! At least for now.
