My Quest For Great Skin With ME Aesthetic Clinic @ Time Square KL Review

A handful of aesthetic clinics have approached me for laser treatments, but I have always been against it.

Two things that perturbed me from going for this treatment earlier: my very-very sensitive skin (afraid that it may not heel as well or leave scars, and the downtime.

When ME Aesthetic Clinic approached me, I had the same hesitation but was comfortably persuaded in the end.

Dr. David Low has been practicing in the aesthetic field for close to 10 years and been with Me Aesthetic Clinic for a good few years now. Here, all laser treatments are performed by him. Having also read a number of testimonials online and gotten some valuable feedback from a few friends, I knew that I was in good hands.

Today, I will be sharing my experience of going through Laser Treatment (also known as carbon dioxide laser treatment, fractional laser treatment or laser skin resurfacing), to remove my post acne marks and scars.

I had 2 sessions completed within a span of 2 months (and a subsequent third treatment, not included in this writeup).

I'm not going to dwell too much on the FAQs in this writeup. I'm pretty sure google offers better explanations and solutions out there.

But before that, a couple of things to do and things not to do:

- Things To Do -

Moisturise.
Slap on the sunscreen.
Stay away from the sun.
Don't touch and peel.
Aloe vera please.

- Things Not To Do -

No toner.
No whitening or acidic-based (acne) products.
No makeup (only mineral based bb cream).

Skincare products that I used after my treatment: -

Simple Refreshing Facial Wash Gel
Simple Hydrating Light Moisturizer
Dermacare Soothing Moisturizer
Avene High Protection Mineral Sunscreen

I was allowed to restart my regular skincare and makeup regime on the 8th day, post treatment.

Oh yes, of course I was scared! But gosh, was I excited to see the outcome at the same time!

Since it was my first time undergoing Laser Treatment, Dr David reommended me to go for the mildest laser in the first visit, before going for the stronger one in the next treatment. I had numbing cream applied onto my entire face for 30 minutes before the treatment begun. The laser treatment took merely 10 minutes and another 30 minutes of cooling-cryo treatment to soothe the skin. The entire session took about 90 minutes in total.

My first laser treatment was not that painful and definitely bearable all in all. There was prickling and stinging sensation throughout. The worst part for me would probably be the aftermath, where my face felt like it was burning but slowly subsided in next few hours.

- Day 1 -
My face was extremely red that evening, and I needed ice packs to cool my skin down. There was a burning sensation when I washed my face, but again, it was bearable all in all. I was careful not to exert any pressure onto my skin. I applied two layers of soothing cream before I went to bed.

- Day 2 -
There was still mild redness on my face when I woke up the next morning. I noticed that black patches started to form, and my skin texture became very rough - a good sign of recovery I presumed. I reapplied soothing cream and sunscreen every 6 hours.

- Day 3 -
I think I looked my worst today. The redness have completely subsided and the dark patches became very evident, especially on my cheeks and forehead area. I started to peel.

- Day 4 -
The dark patches continued to peel.

- Day 5 -
There was not much progress compared to the day before, except that it continued peeling. I applied BB Cream on my face for a good few hours that day because I had an event to attend and didn't want to scare everyone off with my peeling and patchy face. It did not cause any irritation whatsoever.

- Day 6 -
Still peeling, like a snake changing it's skin.

- Day 7 -
I noticed that my nose area became very dry for the past few days. Flakes were inevitable, though strangely, I also noticed whiteheads and clogged pores started to form, particularly on my nose area. I was tempted to peel, but did nothing in the end. My skin felt red and raw, post-peeling.

- Day 8 -
By now, my skin texture have improved drastically, it felt smoother now. The acne marks too lighten, though not completely gone. I went back to my standard skincare and makeup regime.

After 14 Days - The recovery phase does not stop there. My skin texture and marks continued to heal over the next couple of weeks.

About a month later, I was scheduled for my second laser treatment.

This time round, I didn't feel anxious at all, in fact, I was super excited and couldn't wait for it to start.

Strangely enough however, I felt that this session didn't sting as much as my first session, eventhough a stronger laser beam was used. Perhaps I was more prepared this time round, both mentally and physically, really helped.

Thanks to the diligent efforts of Dr. David Low, the session was completed in a breeze.

Also to note, I realised that applying fresh aloe vera speed up the recovery phase of my skin. I'd highly recommend this additional step.

Going through a very similar healing process like before, I felt that the results wasn't as obvious as the former this time round (theory of diminishing returns!), though I did still see improvements nevertheless.

Here're some weekly documented photographs, post my second laser treatment.

Before I end, some of their other more popular aesthetic treatments include Double Eyelid Procedure (or what is known as DST here) and the Q Switch Laser Treatment.
