Ampersand By Culinary Rebels @ Damansara Uptown PJ - Wanna Share?

Is it just me? Because it felt as though 2016 is passing by too quick! What have I been doing for the past month?

Just last weekend, me and few friends popped by Ampersand By Culinary Rebels for quick lunch.

The venue and team behind Ampersand is not new, but the brand name and menu is. They used to be called Ecole P, a canteen styled cafe. Ampersand on the other hand, flaunts a slightly more Western infused menu, tabled to sharing portions.

Earl Grey Tea (Rm6). Iced Americano (Rm9).

We ordered the XXXL Breakfast (Rm58) which came in a portion that was good enough to feed all 4 of us. There were 8 different types of breakfast goodies spread over two large banana leafs - I really liked the idea. My favorites would be the nicely done sauteed mushrooms and the golden brown potato cubes. We barely touched the Lebanese bread however - too hard.

Thing is though, to be honest, if this was served on individual plates, at a quarter of the price, I don't think I would be in a hurry to order. On its own, the ingredients simply weren't as appetizing as I thought it would be.

Lolita's Revenge (Rm20) was a rebel. It had exceedingly interesting flavors, which may not suit everyone's tastebuds, even for an avid foodie like me.

To eat this, you'd have to give the molten lava cake on top a poke, before letting the lemon scented white chocolate lava, seeped into the glass below. Inside, Thai herb infused panna cotta and spicy sand, which I thought tasted rather strange and gravely experimental, both in terms of flavors and texture. It also came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Overall Rating: 6.5/10. Lunch was pleasant and I really liked the sharing concept. I wasn't a fan of the incredibly tight space however, it was hard to move around. All in all, I will return sometime in the future to sample the rest of the food menu, especially the pork ribs. Notwithstanding, stay tune for my Top 10 Dessert Places in Damansara Uptown writeup.
