There're two parts in this writeup - my staycation at Resort Suites at Bandar Sunway, and a Japanese Omakase lunch at Hana Dining & Sake Bar, Sunway Pyramid KL. You never would've guessed what I had that afternoon!
Resort Suites is part of Sunway Resort City, conveniently linked to Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall and overlooking Sunway Lagoon Themepark. Fun fact: It is also the tallest building in Sunway!
Getting There: From the Pyramid Towers Lobby, take the staircase down to B1. A bellboy would then lead you to the Lobby Reception at Level 12. You would need an access card to get there.
I stayed at the Executive King Suite on the 20th floor. Obviously, being a resort-styled room, it was non-carpeted.
What can be improved: The confusing entrance leading to Resort Suites. All amenities provided were of good quality but not spanking clean. The rather small TV. Didn't particularly liked the idea of having breakfast inside Taste Enclave.
All in all, for me, the best thing about staying at Resort Suites would be it's close proximity to Sunway Pyramid and Sunway Lagoon - everything is just footsteps away! Plenty to play; Plenty to do; Plenty to eat; Plenty to see!
The Resort Suites at Bandar Sunway is the perfect choice for any family, business and value-conscious who want luxurious comforts and perfect holiday ventures as they savour only the best of the local culture.

Spending productive me-time in the room attempting to finish up some work. |
What I really liked: Marvelous view overlooking Sunway. The huge room. The super comfortable king sized bed. Amenities provided was comprehensive and clean - the kitchenette came fully equiped; the huge mirror in the toilet; the ironing board, safe and room slippers were safely hidden in the huge closet.

On to lunch.
Hana Dining & Sake Bar is a Taiwanese influenced Japanese Restaurant and possibly one of the newest eatery to hit Sunway Pyramid. The restaurant is cleverly split into two sections, one for an ultimate dining experience and the other for casual izakaya treats.

The 6 course Christmas Omakase Menu, or Jolly Kaiseki that I'm about to showcase below, is priced at RM130++ per person. Available for dinner only, from Christmas eve to New years day. Bookings are essential.
Steamed Milt of Cod in Sake and Bonito Flake Broth. Never in a million - no, gazillion years, would I have thought of sampling this Japanese delicacy, cod milt or what the Chef aptly declared, cod sperm. Imagine: a brain with mushy textures but no distinct taste. They say, it's good for the skin, but I'm sure there're plenty of other food that is good for the skin. |
Fresh Oyster with Salmon Belly. I'm not a huge fan of sashimi but I really enjoyed this - thick cuts of fresh salmon belly and oyster. |
Overall Rating: 6/10. My Omakase meal here were neither good nor bad. I really liked the Crispy Cod Fish, Fresh Sashimi Platter and Grilled Prawn Pasta, but I didn't quite enjoy the rest. I was told that many of the a la carte dishes are impressive however - one which I will definitely be back for. This Omakase feast on the other hand, I will leave it up to you. Again, bookings are essential.

ReplyDeleteThanks Darren =)
DeleteI love their tofu cheesecake...they served a bigger piece without the white sesame ice-cream in their ala-carte menu =)
ReplyDeleteGood to know! =)
DeleteNice written Foodblog, well done!
ReplyDeleteThe mattress itself isn't produced using internal springs or froth or engineered filaments. It is just four inches thick and offers a decent night's rest. shikibuton
