Musical Christmas And New Year Celebrations @ Intercontinental Hotel KL

Today's feast consist of mutiple dishes from various cuisines, at a long communal table that prompted conversations with friends - rekindling old ones as well as making new ones. Also my first taste of turkey this year!

Tatsu Japanese Cuisine / Tao Chinese Cuisine / Serena Brasserie

I have visited Intercontinental Hotel KL numerous times throughout the years, for corporate events mostly and for the food too obviously, but not once in Tatsu or Tao just yet. So when I received an invitation to review their festive menus, I gleefully accepted the opportunity, thrilled to bits in fact.

Themed Musical Christmas and New Year, tonight's sampling consist of an assortment dishes from Tatsu Japanese Cuisine, Tao Chinese Cuisine and Serena Brasserie - all dining hotspots tucked within the hotel.

First up, appetizers.

Christmas Delight from Tatsu Japanese Cuisine.

"Woah, so pretty!" I exclaimed. Thick cuts of seasonal blue fin tuna and sea bream sashimi that tasted fresh and had melt in the mouth textures, served with fresh honwasabi.

Next, cured Norwegian salmon that had silky smooth textures and the prefect balance of sweet-and-salty, topped with crisp salmon skin and curls of red onion. At the side, a colorful medley of salad drizzled with Japanese sauce.

Hickory Smoked BBQ Ribs. Traditional Roast Turkey with Sage and Chestnut Bread Stuffing.
Roasted Vegetables.

"Can I get the turkey drumstick please?" If I had a choice, I would always pick the turkey drumstick, which came wonderfully roasted in this case, poured over giblet jus, and eaten with a hearty serving of roasted greens.

Christmas Delight from Tao Chinese Cuisine.

Next up, I had, in my humble opinion, one of the best Chinese-styled, wok-braised, smoked lamb cutlet. It was sticky and sweet, and the meat - wonderfully done. The charred bits reminded me of charsiew. One more please?

New Year Menu from Tao Chinese Cuisine.

Gratinated cheese Hokkaido scallop, on a pool of coriander mango salsa and red prawn oil, which had a hint of fieriness to it. My least favorite dish for today but rather enjoyable nevertheless.

Part and parcel of the dessert spread that we enjoyed after our meal. The Yulelog and Butter shortbread were scrumptious. All available for takeaway orders via the Festive Gourmet Menu.

Overall Rating: 7/10. That evening, I had a jolly time at dinner - over good food and great company. Although I didn't get to sample the full-course menu of each restaurant, I was in fact, pleasantly contented with the variation of dishes served. Notwithstanding, it was tiring but fulfilling Friday for me and there's nothing quite like falling asleep with a bloated tummy of good food. I will be back for the lamb cutlets!
