Elegantology @ Publika KL - French Food With An Asian Flair.

The meal I had was a teriffic showcase of sophistication and creativity.

Elegantology

Don't be confused.

Elegantology is a restaurant and fashion boutique - a concept that is practically unheard of just yet.

On the restaurant front, the menu consist of predominantly French cuisine with a touch of Asian influence - expect some sophisticated and creatively crafted dishes here. On the boutique side, you'd get a fashion-istic backdrop of local designers while dining here. And yes, the items are all for sale.

I have to admit, I was enthralled by my surroundings the moment I stepped in, but fashion and food? Let's see.

Not wanting to be overstuffed with food, the starters you're about to see below came in sample sizes, not a la carte. For reference however, I've included the standard menu price.

Cocktails by Martell.

Complimentary Steamed Charcoal Buns with Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar.

Salmon Confit 42 Celcius. Rm40.

Imagine: salmon with mashed potato textures - that's, salmon confit. I still prefer the silky and fillet textured ones nevertheless. I couldn't get enough of the orange fennel salad - the dressing was a sweet killer!

Lemongrass Consomme. Rm40.

The light lemongrass consomme came infused with delicious tomyum flavors which exuded hints of peppery aftertaste. Inside - a delicate serving of lobster ravioli and vegetable cubes. More please?

Soya Glazed Cod. Rm84.

The best cod I've had hands down and also the favorite of the table.

The 24-hours cured cod had marvelous seafood flavors, on a pool of yuzu tobiko butter sauce. Also on the plate - edamame mousse, creamy fiddlehead fern, lily bulb and Japanese roe, which enhanced and completed the dish.

24 Hours Sous Vide Lamb Ribs. Rm80.

The texture of this lamb ribs was unlike any other - the meat was tender; the layers of fat was firm; the skin crisp and sweet, served on a dash of mussel ragout. It also came with potato crust topped with caramelised masala onion potato mousse, which I thought was a tad too oily for my liking.

Roasted Muscovy Duck Breast. Rm85.

So colorful! Cherry red wine reduction, watercress emulsion, sweet potato gratin and not forgetting the roasted duck breast, which came chewier than expected, but still gratifying overall. On top, creamy foie gras fragments.

Chilled Cheese Cake. Rm30.

"Wow, this is amazing," my friend exclaimed - and I agreed. The chilled cheesecake (not to be confused with half-baked ones) had tofu-like textures and to-die-for. Plated with blueberry compote and honey caviar crumble.

Overall Rating: 8/10. I had a wonderful time dining amidst the sophisticated surroundings, while feasting on some immaculately prepared food. It felt like a new experience altogether - fashion and food. The flavors blended; the textures harmonious; the presentation beautiful. Having said that, the combination may be too complicated for some diners. Also, my meal felt expensive, semi fine-dining if you may. On that note, they do have some value for money Set Lunch Menu from RM30++, currently rolling.
