MACE @ Damansara Uptown PJ - 3D Coffee Art!

How about teddy bears sunbathing on your cup of coffee?

MACE by Coffee Chemistry Signature

The food maze continues at Damansara Uptown this weekend, at the newly opened MACE, replacing the good old Coffee Chemistry Signature at Subang Jaya.

It was peak lunch hour on a Saturday afternoon, not as busy as I thought it would be, but I'm not complaining, I was famished and couldn't wait to get my caffeine fix and chow down on some food of course!

A glimpse at the menu - apart from the usual Western cafe eats, you'd get a good selection of Malaysian food here as well. For the coffee enthusiast, they use premium Graffeo coffee beans here.

3D Iced Signature Double Chocolate. Rm16.50.

Now, I'm sure that this is not the first time you're seeing 3D coffee art, yesterday's news perhaps, but who can say no to those nicely foamed bears? Not forgetting the delightful iced double chocolate underneath.

Iced Signature Green Tea Latte. Rm16.50.

If I were to pick between the green tea latte or chocolate, this would be my winner. It had a lightly sweetened balance of green tea and milk. My friend opted for the former nevertheless - fair game here.

Signature Fresh Lemongrass. Rm10.

Lemongrass beverages have always been one of my preferred thirst quenchers. This was of no exception.

Chicken & Watermelon Lychee Salad. Rm18.

The appetizer didn't exactly go in my favor. It was lacking in flavors - the grilled chicken needed a thicker glaze and the salad more dressing. I finished up the juicy watermelon and lychee nevertheless.

Chicken Ham Tortilla. Rm16.

Tortilla bread wrapped with chicken ham and salad. Remember to spread on some of the special sauce at the side!

Fish & Chips. Rm24.

Next, fish and chips. You'd get two pieces of nicely battered fish with crisp potato wedges hidden beneath. We finished every bit of this, even the corn and the carrots!

MACE Whole Leg Chicken. Rm22.

The Malaysian representative of today's meal. The chicken was flavorful, the fragrant rice was familiar, the sambal could do with more kick and the papadam - more of that please! Beehoon options too maybe?

Homemade Brownie. Rm11.

The homemade brownie with vanilla ice cream and crunchy honeycomb crumbs was a pleasant dessert to end my meal. Having said that, the brownie textures could do with some improvements.

Overall Rating: 7/10. I had a pretty satisfying lunch here today, coupled with some up-points for the cute sunbathing teddies. The food may appear ordinary, simple and conventional, but well executed overall. My favorite dish of the lots would have to be the Fish and Chips and MACE Chicken Rice. If you'd ask me, an extension of a couple of brunch menu items would do well. There's also a cozy corner upstairs with sofa seats, which would make a nice place to chill on a boring afternoon. On that note, the cafe is also open to private event bookings as well as catering options.

  1. Why so expensive the chocolate and green tea latte? Because of the 3D coffee art? Then I'll skip that >_<

    1. Yeah. I have to agree that 16.50 is tad expensive for coffee.
