Franco Petite @ Paradigm Mall PJ - Still Alright.

Update Jan 2015: Visited the Franco outlet at Mid Valley earlier today and both the service and food was horribe. Will not revisit this outlet.

After what seemed like an endless journey of being stuck in horrendous traffic, I reached Paradigm Mall - in one piece, and was thankful for the great company and enjoyable meal I had after that.

Franco Petite

I was really looking forward to eating here. I had my first taste of this French Japanese mishmash, back when it was aptly named Miam Miam. You can read about my previous visit to Franco 1 Utama Here.

Now, I have heard plenty of good things about Franco - on the amazing french toasts, parfaits and souffles, as well as the addictive squid ink pastas and rice. On the flip side, I have also heard about the nasty customer service and the deteriorating food quality. You know when they say, the sequel will never be as good as the original?

Hence, my aim today was to find out two things - is Franco much different compared to Franco Petite, and is the food still as good as before. So was it?

At a glance, menu wise, it's about the same, less choices perhaps. And like the name suggests, Franco Petite serves smaller portions compared to Franco, but for me, again, it feels more or less the same.

Hot Matcha. Rm9.80.

The winner - of the most overpriced green tea I've ever had. Period.

Croque Monsieur. Rm14.80.

One of my favorite brunch snacks - ham, gruyere, emmentel cheese and grilled bread. The bread was crisp; the fillings were delicious. I wouldn't mind ordering another one of these.

Lobster Bisque Pasta. Rm26.80.

No lobster but lobster bisque! The steaming lobster broth had a distinctive sweet and aromatic flavor, the spaghetti and tiger prawn were nicely done, and the sprinkles of parmesan added texture to the dish. But one prawn only?

Overall Rating: 7/10. Despite the change of name and despite me not visiting for the longest time, I still enjoyed my meal here. Biased a little maybe, perhaps its my preference towards French and Japanese cuisine, or was it the awesome company I was with? Although we didn't have much this time round, both the dishes that we sampled had a good balance of flavors. Freshly cooked or not - perhaps not, something which weren't as evident during the Miam Miam days. On that note, I'm looking forward to dining at the soon-to-open Avenue K outlet.
