Red Lobster Malaysia @ The Intermark KL

Appealing thoughts of juicy lobster emerged while I sluggishly dragged my way up the escalators - half awake, whisked passed a handful of tastefully decorated eateries along the way, through to Red Lobster. The last time I was at The Intermark, it was for Tate. But the most memorable affair thus far, would probably be the feast I had at Ohla Tapas. Oh, was I excited on what awaits that early Saturday morning.

Red Lobster

For one of America's largest seafood restaurant to hit town barely two months back, I wasn't expecting much to begin with. It's new - and everyone knows that new restaurants always have teething problems to conquer. Besides, lobster doesn't exactly come aplenty in Malaysian shores, so be prepared to pay premium here.

But when those chunky lobster tail, massive snow crab claws and roasted scallops and shrimps were placed in front of me, I couldn't resist but drool. I knew that this was going be a Lobster-tivating feast.

There's this thing about food reviews - you meet new foodies and you rekindle with old friends.

When it comes to meeting new people, you're lucky if you're placed alongside some outgoing personalities. Now, always remember that good company will make an average meal feel - better than average. On the other hand, you could be seated next to some quiet ones or worst, being the odd one out. Happened to me before.

But today, I'm glad that I met new friends and dined with some great company.

Like the name suggests, you'll be seeing loads of lobsters in this write up, together with some exquisite seafood delights. I will also be sharing with you some of Red Lobster must-try signature dishes. Read on okay!

Complimentary Cheddar Bay Biscuits.

Sweet and lightly crusted on the outside. Eat it while its still warm!

Lobster Bisque. Rm19.90.

Rich and savory lobster bisque that came with generous servings of lobster shreds on top.

New England Clam Chowder. Rm17.90.

Creamy clam chowder with clams and potatoes hidden beneath.

Parrot Isle Jumbo Coconut Shrimp. Rm22.90.

In America, they call it shrimp, not prawns. These delicate flattened shrimps were tossed in crisp coconut bits and had a sweet finish to it. Served with pina colada sauce.

Lobster Pizza. Rm36.90.

Lobster meat, melted mozzarella, fresh tomatoes and sweet basil. If there's one thing I would tweak - the pizza base. It could've been crispier.

Bar Habour Lobster Bake. Rm109.90.

When this was placed in front of me, I thought, wow. If you fancy trying a bit of everything, you would love this dish. Meant to be shared, the massive bowl came with an abundance of seafood-joy, soaked in savory broth.

Grilled Lobster, Shrimp and Scallops. Rm99.90.

The skewers of shrimp and scallops, together with the lobster tail had toothsome textures and an addictive seafood sweetness to it. There simply weren't enough to go around!

Lobster and Steak Burger. Rm69.90.

Now, which should I have first - the beef patty or the grilled maine lobster tail. The pairing didn't quite work for me, it felt like I was eating two dishes instead of one, and the beef patty was a little dry for my liking. Of all, the part which I enjoyed the most was definitely the grilled lobster.

Crab and Roasted Seafood Bake. Rm74.90.

There's an art in eating this: break - crack - pull. The snow crab had a hint of saltiness, perhaps a little dry for some but the meat was fresh and firm. Hidden beneath - treasures of shrimp, mini scallops and roasted wedges.

Double Chocolate Torte. Rm15.90.

Chocolate torte with whipped cream and strawberry sauce.

Cheesecake. Rm15.90.

If I were to pick between this and the former, it would have to be this.

Overall Rating: 7.5/10. Now, there aren't many Western-styled seafood restaurant that serves lobster in town, hence, many would probably compare it against the lobsters we'd get from the typical Chinese seafood restaurant. Those, probably have a juicier finish compared to the Red Lobster version. So, be prepared for some drier lobster meat here. Withal, I thought the meal was satisfying, not particularly impressive, but a great lobster indulgence. With the hefty price tag attached though, the food may only be fit for a celebratory meal or special occasions to say the least.

For those eager to know what Red Lobster is up to next - they will be opening another outlet in Shah Alam towards year end, and the Group will also be bringing in Olive Garden and Longhorn Steakhouse earlier next year. I'm excited! More to come!
