[CLOSED] Estilo @ Publika KL

Updated Sept 2016: Estilo have been replaced by Ekkamai.

Being a huge fan of Spanish delights, I've always been wanting to visit Estilo. What more if it involves caviar!

Estilo

Tell me, how can you not fall in love with such snugged and captivating ambiance!

As soon as I stepped through the doorway, I couldn't help be gawked at my surroundings - the allure of colorful geometric lamps, wooden crafted frames, dangling chalkboards, and an artwork patched wall with countless racks of neatly arranged wine and liquor. It was nice - really nice.

In the write-up below, you'll notice that some pictures has Andy Kho's watermark on it. He was with us that evening and came equipped with his gear. When there is a professional photographer around - I shall rest.

While we waited for the rest to arrive, we took a couple of pictures, Kelly sipped on wine, Chloe sipped on Mojito Sangria, and I had chilled water. I'm dead serious. By the time dinner was served, I was starving.

At a Spanish restaurant, it is customary to start with tapas.

Queso de Cabra (Goats Cheese). Rm22.

If there's one tapas I'd order again - it would be this. Rich and gooey oven baked goat cheese in a crisp filo pastry, laced with pumpkin jam and caramelized shallots. No surprise that this was snagged up almost immediately.

Cubanito. Rm20.

Mini Cuban sandwiches layered with melted cheese, ham and mustard.

Smoked Salmon with Wasabi Oreo. Rm22.

A surprise dish that hid mysteriously under a cloche lid. The flavors of smoked salmon and wasabi oreo combination confused me. But with those divine slices of smoked salmon, who can say no?

Champinones. Rm16.

Sauteed mushrooms that came exceptionally rich, probably from the use of wine and cheese. This could get a little too salty towards the end.

Escargots. Rm24.

Escargots served with a twist - no shell but on two roasted apples and topped with a very rich cream sauce - too rich and too creamy in fact. An appetizer that would probably make you struggle through the rest of the meal.

Beef Carpaccio. Rm24.

Thinly sliced beef carpaccio topped with shave manchego (cheese), pistachio and capers. Order only if you're a huge fan of raw meat.

Green Vege Salad with Smoked Salmon. Rm26.

Slices of smoked salmon tucked between peas, pineapple, cucumber and avocado - tartare style.

Baby Spinach Salad and Marinated Prawns with Caviar. N/A.

My eyes shone at the sight of caviar - loads of it too. This is The Bomb Guys! An exquisite masterpiece on its own. Of course I'm biased, there's caviar involved!

Paella Ciega. Rm124.

The epitome of Spanish cuisine. Paella. The Spanish rice was scrumptious - fluffy, sticky and jam-packed with flavors. The platter of seafood - those were equally good. This tasted fantastic but obviously strayed on presentation. Seafood would always look prettier sitting on top of the paella right?

Pulpo a la Parrilla (Grilled Octopus). Rm48.

Smoked octopus - a first for me. Also kept hidden in a cloche lid to preserve temperature, the octopus had toothsome textures, was not at all chewy, and very well-smoked.

Pollo (Chicken). Rm28.

Grilled Spring Chicken with mushroom and blue cheese sauce.

Corderos Lamb Costillos (Rack of Lamb). Rm58.

By the time this rack of baby lamb ribs got out of the 62.5° heat, it was squeezed with flavors. The meat was juicy, tender and deliciously char-grilled on top. One of my favorite dishes of the meal.

Tarta Manzana (Apple Tart). Rm16.

An extremely sweet serving of caramelised apple tart. The toasted caramel were sinfully crusted and the pastry beneath it added just the right amount of chewy texture to it. Order this if you have an unconditional sweet tooth.

Chocolate Mousse with Raspberry. Rm16.

When this was placed in front of me, I thought - it must be really sweet. Surprisingly not. One of the smoothest mousse I've had in a while. Comes with mint chocolate chip ice cream too.

Estilo is a pork free establishment. Estilo Food Menu Here. Estilo Drinks Menu Here.

Overall Rating: 7.5/10. A great Spanish restaurant that is definitely worth visiting. The paella especially, that's fit for a king! The mains were great, the tapas were alright and both desserts were to-die-for. And who could've forgotten the caviar! We have been warned that Spanish cuisine could leaned towards the saltier side. Thus, most dishes that I sampled that night, came a hint more savory than what our palates are used to. Notwithstanding, the least of my favorite would have to be escargots. An overall good feed at Estilo nonetheless. I would surely revisit.
