Isme Beauty & Cafe @ Lot 10 Jalan Walter Grenier KL

I don't usually do weekday reviews. Working hours can be rather unpredictable at times and no one likes to be called a sour prune by bailing out on the very last minute. Unless of course, I'm absolutely sure of my attendance, else, I would definitely prefer weekends.

Exceptions are made at times however - for interesting places that I've not been and appealing events that comes rare. I get excited at these kind of things. Going along the lines of what I will be introducing to you shortly.

Isme Beauty & Cafe

Like its name suggest, Isme Beauty Cafe is a Beauty Parlour come Cafe, all in a walk-in package.

Inspired by the Koreans, this is the only conceptual beauty cafe in the Klang Valley which combines it both. That, was in fact the selling point that got me wandering over on that lovely Friday evening.

The simplest way to get here is probably to park and walk from Lot 10. Located directly behind Lot 10 and right next to Royal Hotel. Not the most strategic location I have to admit. Rest assured though, there will be new outlets opening in Bangsar South and Nu Sentral really soon.

Upon stepping into Isme, I instantly fell in love with the blue-and-white furnished tones. The cushioned seats looked really comfortable and chic. Definitely one of those places where you can sit and sip coffee for hours.

That said, it could get a bit boring if you decided to dine alone - there's no TV nor a whole lot to see outside.

Walking pass the cafe, there's the Beauty Parlor.

Isme carries the Cuscos range from Korea. The main element that caught my attention - all of its products are infused with diamond powder of Swarovski Zirconia. Like Rihanna's hit - Shine Bright Like A Diamond.

For now, the beauty treatment rooms are not ready just yet. Anyhow, there is a beauty consultant on site for the purchase of any Cuscos products.

I'm not going to dwell much on the products, but focus a bit more on the cafe offerings that I sampled.

To being with, there really isn't much to choose from in their menu - mostly coffees, some teas and cold beverages, a handful of desserts and pastries, and about 6 types of mains. Fantastic news for the ladies however - all food served here have a calorie count of no more than 400 calories per dish.

Isme Signature. Rm13.

The Isme Singature coffee is in fact a latte with a blend of four coffee beans. It was mild and served at the perfect temperature. I really enjoyed this.

Cafe Mocha. Rm13.

The mocha was equally heavenly. I would definitely recommend this to all you fellow mocha drinkers out there.

Gynostemma Herb Tea. Rm12.

The tea on the other hand requires a bit of an acquired taste. It is bitter yet sweet and very rich at the same time. It really didn't need that much tea leaves. Needless to say, this is not my cup of tea.

Bread sticks with Tuna and Fresh Salad. Rm15.90.

Either I was really famished or this was a scrumptious combination - I think it was the latter. The tuna had just the right amount of seasoning and the bread had a nice crunch to it. The cherry tomatoes came really sweet as well.

Chicken Bolognese Spaghetti. Rm20.90.

There's only two pasta dishes in their menu and I tasted it both. It was disappointing that the spaghetti came overcooked, the sauce watered down and the chicken bits indistinguishable.

Creamy Mushroom Spaghetti. Rm20.90.

Like the former, this spaghetti was also overcooked and the creamy sauce a hint too light for my liking. That said, my friend really liked this.

Tiramisu. Rm12.90.

Moving on to the desserts. This tiramisu was heavenly - satisfyingly light and had a nice sponge of brandy in it. Yes you heard right - brandy.

Cheesecake. Rm12.90.

One of the best sellers here - the cheesecake was one of the smoothest I've had, closing on to the half-baked versions.

Mille Crepe. Rm15.90.

Of the desserts I sampled, this was the least of my favorite. It was just too dry.

Chocolate Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream. Rm12.90.

Glazed beautifully with chocolate sauce and topped with vanilla ice cream. The brownie itself was a little spongy inside and lightly crisp outside. Definitely lighter than most brownies, but we enjoyed this too.

Overall Rating: 6.5/10. Isme Beauty & Cafe is an interesting concept no doubt, but I figured it really needs to get the beauty parlor up and operating at full mode really soon. For now, it felt just like any other cafe, minus the unhealthy but delicious calorific food to add. The desserts and coffee here are pretty deserving nonetheless, not forgetting the deletable tuna-salad platter too. Location wise, I think the soon-to-open Bangsar South and Nu Sentral outlets would stand a better chance of attracting walk-in customers. I'm sure the feminine ambiance would attract the girls to dine-in.

Isme is located at:
Address: Lot B-1-1, Block B,1st Floor, Bintang Fairlane, 23, Jalan Walter Grenier, Kuala Lumpur.
Phone: 03 21106191
Opening Hours: 9am - 9pm Daily

The simplest way to get here is probably to park and walk from Lot 10. Located directly behind Lot 10 and right next to Royal Hotel.
