Neroteca Italian Restaurant @ Changkat Bukit Bintang KL

It was a lovely Saturday night, surrounded by great company, seated in a cozy yet classic ambiance, far but not too far away from the hustle and bustle of Changkat. I was exceptionally excited on rekindling some age-old memories with Ashley that evening, of whom I've not met for a little over two years now.

Neroteca

If it weren't for my friend who suggested coming here for dinner, I wouldn't have known of this place - nor would I have mind actually. Having passed it numerous times yet not noticed. The signboard blends in incredibly well with the building.

Nevertheless, with Changkat food heaven merely a stones throw away, one would probably wonder - why here? A little more on that at the end of my write-up.

Upon stepping into Neroteca, the first thing that I noticed was the fascinating shelves of wine, neatly piled on a ceiling-high shelve. Everyone orders a bottle here - except us. We were heading out for drinks after, someplace else, so we decided to opt-out for dinner this time round.

Some pictures of us taken that night.

Neroteca's menu is quite substantial, though like all Italian menu's, I found it quite hard to read and am usually torn for choices. Like my La Risata experience not long back. I always end up asking for recommendations.

A basket of complimentary Italian breads were served right after we've placed our order.

Complimentary Breads.

Blueberry Plus Grape and Apple Juice.

Passion Fruit Sparkling Juice. Rm12.

Mediterranean. Rm22.

If you are a fan of sundried tomatoes and asiago cheese - this is definitely for you. The mesclun greens were crisp and the sundried tomatoes and cheese blended incredibly well together. The salad was delectable.

Ravioli Tirolesi. Rm30.

Cushions of ravioli packed with minced sausage, over a bed of creamy walnut sauce, topped with a slice of cold salami. The dish was done well, with about 10 pillows of ravioli in there. But - it didn't quite hit the spot for me, personal preference perhaps.

Petto Di Pollo Grigliatto. Rm48.

This dish was outstanding. The huge chicken breast was juicy and tender; the soft polenta was exquisite and had textures along the likes of mushy couscous or dense mashed potato if you may; the garlic infused sauce and french beans were heavenly. I can easily famished this all on my own.

Classic Tecamisu. Rm18.

Not knowing which dessert to order, we asked for recommendations, and regretted our decision on the very first spoonful. The tiramisu tasted like soggy sponge cake and I think they forgot to add the coffee. Obviously we didn't finish this, well - not even half of it.

Overall Rating: 6/10. For the price paid, I thought the food served was fairly satisfying, excluding the highly recommended dessert that sadly failed miserably towards the end of our meal. This restaurant probably caters to a crowd who prefers privacy over popularity, ease of distance for neighborhood peeps who stays nearby, or perhaps the vast selection of wine. That said, I'd probably wouldn't mind walking a little farther into Changkat for dinner next time.
