S.wine Cafe @ Publika KL

Updated: Read my latest writeup on S.Wine Tropicana City Mall Here.

I was merely browsing through Elite Daily just now, and there were a couple of articles that really got me pondering.

One of it that caught my eye was, 'Is the Guy obliged to pay on the first date?' Bluntly - the answer is yes, with all the logical backups in the article. Just Google it.

Do you think a Gentleman should pickup the bill on a first date?

Swine

Even before stepping into S.wine, I thought - this place have to be damn good to have people visiting, coz' I had a damn tough time looking for it.

I went round-and-round the supermarket trying to locate the place - like I was playing treasure hunt, except that I'm now looking for a restaurant.

I later realized that I had passed it a myriad of times, obviously the signboards were vague and very much hidden - tucked at the far end of Big Ben's Grocer and right next to the meat butcher and a wine cellar.

People often mistaken BIG as a hub for grocery shopping. In fact, it hosts quite a number of  unique standalone restaurants inside that is always packed full of patrons.

A lifestyle supermarket they say - something which is entirely rare in Malaysia. Would you dine in Tesco if there were restaurants inside?

Swine is not the most comfortable place to eat, especially because it's so popular - tables are very near to each other and metal chairs aren't exactly the most comfortable to sit on.

Adding to the overall ambience - pink pigs!

Sausage and Bacon Chunks Pasta. Rm28.00.

I was half expecting the typical dried bacon bits and meagre slices of sausages with spaghetti served in tomato based puree.

What surprised me - a large portion of spaghetti cooked al dente in a capsicum tomato concasse cream sauce that was rich and flavourful and loaded with plentiful of garlic sausages and thick bacon chunks, that I couldn't get enough of.

I would highly recommend this for sharing.

Sloppy Piggy Burger with Mexicana Pulled Pork. Rm28.00.

Love - the nicely seasoned Mexicana pulled pork, the firm and tasty layer of pork patty and the nicely toasted brioche buttered burger bun.

If only the pork patty was juicier, this pork burger would be a beauty. Considering the already-dry texture of the pulled pork, stacking it on top of the patty didn't help much. I had a blob of chilli sauce to go with it nevertheless.

Chilled Lemongrass Pandan. Rm9.00.

I wasn't entirely sure what I was thinking when I ordered this - the combination did not work at all. I finished my drink nonetheless. I was thirsty and it was 9 bucks worth - for all the wrong reasons.

Cappuccino. Rm8.00.

Overall Rating: 7.5/10. Another fancy pork place that was pleasing to the porky palate. I will return to try out some of their mains - made available after 5pm only.
