Henry Cook
First thought that came to mind was what a name for a restaurant that doesn't serve western food. It also reminded me of Captain Hook, my made up version of an American fast food chain for some weird reason - I shall not drift further.
This place was started up by an ex-head chef of a re-known hotel chain, who also runs two other restaurants based in Singapore.
Made popular for it's Laksa dish, I had to give it a go.
Nyonya Laksa. Rm6.90.
It was one big bowl of noodles but with meagre serving of fishcakes and chicken kebab bits at the side - at a glance of course. Unlike most Laksa dish which is essentially spicy; this is a milder version of that and the broth has a creamier and thicker consistency compared to the former. I thought the broth was mildly savoury and well - flat. Perhaps I have an unconscious biasness towards the conventional Laksa dish.
Sloppy Fries with Brown Sauce. Rm6.50.
Generous serving of fries topped with a massive dollop of tender beef shreds dipped in brown sauce and served with melted cheese in between. The combination works; it was hearty, appetizing and definitely one of those sinful indulgences I wouldn't mind to add-on.
Overall Rating: 5.5/10 simply because it's signature dish - the Laksa, was just so-so in my opinion.
