Angry Chicken @ Setia City Mall

I have always been a huge fan of Taiwanese street food - as much as I love munching on snacks (that's a lot). When my friend told me about Angry Chicken, I was undeniably excited.

Let us see what Angry Chicken has to offer.

Angry Chicken

Specializing in Taiwanese street food and snacks, Angry Chicken hails from the famous Little Taiwan chain of restaurants and has two other branches located at Low Yat Plaza and PJS respectively.

Opened barely a month ago, this branch (located at Setia City Mall, Food Channel food court) have already posted a record breaking feat of selling 1000+ chickens a week - a pretty great start for an early beginning, this place should easily be a roaring and angry success isn't it?

The grand opening only came 10 days after the stall started operating. It is also one of the most lavish stall opening I've seen at a food court so far - Flowers and all.

Food Channel Food Court have got some great eateries around, but what makes Angry Chicken stand out from the crowd, is its location. Facing directly in front of the main entrance - you wouldn't miss it.

Since it was our first time there, it took us awhile to decide on our order.

The menu is actually quite simple - featuring the Angry cheesy chicken and Angry double decking as its specialties, it can be ordered a la carte or in a box. The Asian variety comes with rice whereas the Western variety comes with fried sweet potato slices.

Special Red Plum Drink.

The Rm2 add-on for a Special Red Plum drink was a good choice. I've always enjoyed the sweet and sourness of refreshing drink after a meal.

Angry Cheesy Chicken (Western Box). Rm9.90.

Being one of Angry Chicken's signature dishes - This is a must try!

To start things of, the chicken was boneless - a definite plus for me. My first bite was an oozing madness - the fried chicken was seasoned well, crispy on the outside, succulent on the inside and had a layer of melted cheese in between. It was delish. The fried sweet potato slices was also quite pleasant but just too little, I couldn't get enough of it.

Angry Chicken Pop (Western Box). Rm9.90.

Take bite-sized chicken portions, coat them in batter then deep fried to a golden brown color and made more aromatic with curry leaves - this version was equally delightful. As a side dish, the thin apple slices sprinkled with orange peel and dried plum was pretty good but came of as quite an odd combination for me - a minor lapse to an otherwise satisfying meal.

Angry Double Decking. Rm9.90.

Apart from the chicken, the Angry Double Decking is also one of Angry Chicken's specialties.

We shared a serving of the this. Stacked on top of a cooling red plum drink with two sticks of infamously sinful Taiwanese sausage.

I thought the Taiwanese sausage was very tasty and flavourful, however I have to admit that I found it a bit too oily for my liking.

It's was a tough call, but I think I still prefer eating-off a separate bag rather than having the sausage decked on top of the drink - being all lady-like like that. That said, it's just me. My friends love the innovative concept and for convenience sake nonetheless.

The dude at the back holding onto the leaflet - That's Jon, the Boss. Do say Hi if you drop by, he won't bite.

Overall Rating: 6/10 for the overall meal. Despite the relative distance from where I stay, I would definitely drop by for a taste of Angry Chicken if I'm around the area.

Angry Chicken is located at:
Stall K-03, Food Channel Food Court, Lv1-24, Level 1 Setia City Mall
