Nadaje @ 3 Two Square Section 19 PJ - Mille Crepe!

After doing reviews on Humble Beginnings and Vanilla Cakes, two incredibly popular Mille crêpe outlet in the City, one can only imagine the excitement and how psyched I was when I found out that Nadeje Patisserie Cafe opened it's doors in PJ.

Nadaje

Established since 2006, Nadeje prides itself on its quality fresh ingredients and finest handmade Mille Crepe & other special cakes/desserts that taste flavourful and satisfying all on its own.

For those not familiar with Mille crêpe is a type of very thin pancake that originated from France with each mille crepe consisting of more than 20 layers of paper thin crepe.

City folks often travel to Melaka just to get a taste of Nadeje because it was that good.

Tucked at an isolated corner, right next to the parking lot in 3 Two Square, one would questioned how this place managed to garner such a huge following albeit located in a not so strategic location. Word of mouth is that powerful.

I was there to join the crowd at about 5pm on a Saturday evening. There was about 20-25 people in front of me. It took approximately 30 minutes to order and another 15 minutes waiting time.

Nadeje offers 18 types of Mille crêpe, 10 types of special cakes and 12 types of Nama Donut. However, not all Mille crêpe selections are available on display, also the special cakes and Nama Donuts are not available in the PJ branch.

Though there weren't much choices available, I was pretty contented with the choices on hand as all of the Mille crêpe on display looked simply delectable.

Each costing Rm9.50/slice or Rm75/cake. (Vanilla Cakes costs Rm9/slice and Humble Beginnings at Rm9.90/slice).

The two most popular Mille crepe in Nadaje has to be the the original and cheese.

Since the place was overcrowded and limited tables was available, I was forced to do a take away. Each takeaway box comes with an ice pack.
Original

With about 20 layers of homemade custard cream with tahitian vanilla beans mix with fresh cream and brushed with egg and honey on the top most layer. Comparing the Original version of mille crepe available in Vanilla Cakes and Humble begginings, this one was the fluffy-iest and I can distinctly taste the layers of mille crepe without the cream overpowering the dessert. I would without a doubt prefer this over the others. This was an extremely delectable crepe for me. It was not too creamy and light. I would highly recommend this.

Cheese

On the other hand, the cheese version was slightly on the heavier side. Made from New Zealand cream cheese and homemade lemon Jam, it was quite rich. The taste of cheese was quite evident though not too overwhelming. I found it to be pretty decent. That said, the combination of cheese and cream a bit too much towards the end.

Banana Chocolate

Made from banana's puree mix with fresh cream and sand with black chocolate crepe, I was quite surprised that this crepe does not have a lot of chocolatey taste to it. It was not too sweet and just the way I like it.

Besides the hugely popular Mille crêpe, Nadaje also offers a pretty wide range of beverages.

Overall Rating: 8/10 for the definite love of Mille Crepe and for the good customer service.

Comparing between Vanilla Cakes, Humble Beginnings and now Nadaje, I found Nadaje's mille crepe to be the driest among all 3. In other words, if I were to take a bite, the drier version would be more fluffy and the creamy version a bit more watery and compressed. I fancy the drier version more as I'm not a big fan of fresh cream. Hence, Nadaje comes first, followed by Humble Begginings then Vanilla Cakes as I found the mille crepe the creamiest among all 3.

In addition, consume the Mille Crepe on the day itself if possible. I noticed that the crepe got a tad watery when I left it in the fridge overnight and it simply did not taste as good as the day before. All in all, I was a satisfied customer and am looking forward to the Special cakes and Nama Donuts they have to offer.
