Extra Super Tanker @ Damansara Kim - Marvelous Chinese Food

Bringing about the new year festive spirit and celebration feast, this is the longest Chinese-food-streak I've had in awhile. It is Chinese New Year afterall.

Extra Super Tanker

Being one of the popular Chinese restaurant in PJ, this place needs no introduction. Established in 2004, Extra Super Tanker Restaurant is well known for its authenticate Seafood dishes and wonderful chinese cuisine.

The restaurant can fit a capacity of 250 pax with 3 private rooms.

There is a set menu available but of course, like any other Chinese restaurant, they can cook-to-order.

As usual, we started the meal with Yee Sang, signifying years of longevity and prosperity.

Which most of the time, ended up being a pretty messy and noisy affair.

Stir Fried Eggplant with Minced Shrimp.

This dish was the first to arrive. My initial-take of it was that, it surely 'looks' salty. Typically stir fried with chilli paste or more commonly known as 'belacan' in Malaysia, this dish was overwhelmingly salty nor spicy. This prawns was also tangy and well done. I enjoyed this dish.

Salted Egg Prawns.

I'm the type of lazy person who'd rather eat the shell with the prawn rather than peel it off. The shell was that crispy and not too buttery for me to gorge it all down. The prawns was also decently fresh and cooked to perfection.

Thai  style Sweet and Sour Fried Chicken.

Though slightly on the spicier side, the chicken skin was crispy and yet the chicken meat was juicy and tender. The gravy was bursting with sweet and sour flavors. I thoroughly enjoyed this dish, in fact, one of my favorites of the night. I would highly recommend.

Steamed Talapia Fish.

The fish meat was fresh and well done, not at all starchy. Can't really tell what the garvy and condiments are made of but it was salty.

BBQ-ed Pork (Char Siew and Siew Yok).

I'm usually the type of person who would perfer lean BBQ-ed pork, not those with layered with fats and ladened with too much oil. This version though, was slightly on the fatty side for me (but would probably be perfect for most people) and tasted surprisingly delectable without the overly fatty texture. However, I was slightly dissapointed with the Siew Yok since the skin lacked the crackling texture.

Claypot Beancurd with Seafood.

Stir Fried Kang Kung with Belacan.

And a couple of pictures of my high shoolmates.

The bill came up to about Rm650++, about Rm45 per pax. For the quality of dishes ordered, the price was just about average.

Overall Rating: 8/10 for the food and environment. One thing about having a 6-8 course dinner at a Chinese restaurant is the consistency and speed of food being served. Never liked waiting too long nor fancy dishes coming out at once. This dinner was timed nicely with each dish being served 5-10 minutes apart. Overall, the food was very satisfactory. In fact, one of the better Chinese restaurants I've been to.
