Sopoong Korean Food @ Time Square

5/3/2012

Have been having terrible cravings for Korean food lately. Tried out this place called Sopoong Korean Food (The row of restaurants in front of Cold Storage but at the other side, facing the elavators).

Sopoong Korean Food, Time Square - With Jas.

Kimbap - Korean Style Rice Rolls - (김밥) is usually drier than the Japanese version of Sushi and usually there's no sauce. Hence, many may not like it because its drier and have less flavor, which may not suit the flavorful tastebuds of a typical Malaysian.

Thus, I would think that's its really important that the fillings are well chosen and nicely marinated, just to add some flavor to this rice fish.

Personally, I like Kimbap(s) but reckon the one served in Level 4 food court KLCC is way better.

Overall Rating: 5.5/10. This place is run by a Korean couple, hence, I was expecting a tinge of authenticity in their food. I was dissapointed towards the end of the meal.

The mains was not bad but the rice cakes was a real let down. It was tasteless, too overdone and the sauces tasted like it came out from a bottle. In terms of price, the set meals were surprisingly cheap. I don't recall the exact amount but it was more affordable compared to the standard set meals in other restaurants. If I were to compare against smaller korean foodchains, I still prefer Ko Hyang Country Delights in 1 Utama. Will I visit again? Perhaps, but I would order something else.

Sopoong is located at:
Berjaya Times Square No. 71 Lower Ground Floor, Jalan Imbi, 55100, Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan
