Betty's Midwest Kitchen @ Aman Suria PJ

Holla all. I've been dying to try out Betty's since I stumbled upon a food blog review on it some time back.

One sunny Saturday afternoon, I dragged along two friends of mine to give this place a go. They have both been there before, so the whole reason they agree to come along was also because they were forcefully coerced to, by me.

Betty's Midwest Kitchen

I arrived at about 11.30am and the place was half full. Managed to get myself a seat inside so that I can shy away from the afternoon heat. I think there's about 20 tables all in all, 5 outside and 15 inside. By the time I left, which was at about 1pm, the place was already packed to the brim. There was even people waiting for tables. Needless to say, the waiter prompted us for our last order before we could foot the bill and leave.

Upon ordering, we waited for about 10 minutes before the food arrived. Service was quite prompt.

Pork chop with country gravy. Rm23.00.

At first sight, I thought they got my order wrong. Gravy should be brown in color right? Apparently not in Midwest terms. My order came with 2 slices of pork chop laced with thick country gravy with mashed potato, peas and caramelised onions.

The first pork chop was tender and juicy but once I sliced through the second one, it was way overdone and touch, to the extend that it was quite hard to slice through. I was quite disappointed. The sides on the other hand, was pretty decent. The mash potato was done just right, its texture was creamy and just the way I liked it.

Dog Food. Rm10.00.

This was Da Bomb. Generous portion of golden brown french fries topped with cheese and oven-ed to perfection. It was crispy but not burn and I really enjoyed the slightly burn bits on the side. No wonder they named this Dog food, you eat straight out from a aluminum plate and it was that good. My friends did not order anything else besides this (since they already had lunch like that). It was heavy enough and can be a meal in itself.

Overall Rating: 6.5/10 purely for the dog food and location. This place is quite easy to spot since its directly facing the mainroad when you turn into Aman Suria. Downgraded because of subpar pork chop that I got. Would pay this place a visit again just to get my fix of Dog Food and perhaps to try out their Meatloaf and Pork ribs.
