RM798.00. That's probably not a price tag you'd normally associate with a tablet packed with premium features.
I certainly didn't.
But after trying out the LUMOS Tablet Pro, I started questioning whether spending thousands on a tablet would actually be necessary.
Here's why this device caught me by surprise.
WHAT CAUGHT MY ATTENTION
I'll admit, I wasn't actively looking for a tablet.
Like most people, I already have a smartphone and a laptop. So I never really felt the need for another device - like a tablet.
What caught my attention was the fact that the LUMOS Tablet Pro starts from just RM798.00, yet comes with features that are usually associated with much more expensive tablets.
Plus, LUMOS is a trusted brand with over 2000+, 5-star reviews, since its launch, slightly over 3 years back.
Naturally, I was curious - but do I really need it? Or will it make my life easier?
A BIGGER SCREEN MAKES MORE DIFERENCE THAT YOU THINK
One of the first things I noticed was the 10.1-inch Full HD IPS display with Full HD+.
For someone who spends a lot of time consuming content, I immediately appreciated having a bigger screen than my phone.
Whether I was catching up on work on the go, viewing tedious documents, or just watching Netflix in bed, everything felt more comfortable.
At 1200p resolution, the colors looked vibrant and the screen was sharp enough that I never felt like I was using a budget device.

STAYING CONNECTED WITHOUT DEPENDING ON WIFI
The other feature that I genuinely felt useful was the premium Dual 4G SIM support.
Unlike many other tablets that rely entirely on WiFi, the LUMOS Tablet Pro allows me to stay connected even when I'm outside, and especially while I'm travelling.
I was in Indonesia recently and instead of bringing my bulky laptop with me for work, I brought my tablet along instead, and purchased a cheap local sim card for data. I no longer need to hunt for WiFi hotspots or use expensive data roaming.
It's one of those features that I didn't think much about until I actually use it.
SMOOTH ENOUGH FOR EVERYDAY USE
I know some of you may worry that affordable tablets might feel slow or laggy.
Thankfully, that wasn't the case here.
With up to 18GB RAM and 128GB storage, switching between apps felt smooth and responsive. I could jump between emails, tabs, social media, without any major lag. FYI, I transferred more than 100 apps from my phone to this tab and it's still running great.
Plus, the device lasts 8 hours on a single charge. Meaning, I really don't need to carry my charger everywhere I go.
For everyday users, that's really what matters. Nobody wants a tablet that makes simple tasks frustrating.
LIGHTWEIGHT ENOUGH TO CARRY EVERYWHERE
Another thing I appreciated was how lightweight it feels.
At just 490g, it was easy to carry around without feeling that I'm lugging another laptop in my bag, which makes it perfect for commuting, road trips, travelling, etc.
Seriously, it weighs less than my bag of apples. It's one of those devices that's easy to keep with you just in case, because it doesn't take up much space.

TURNING ANY SCREEN INTO AN ENTERTAINMENT HUB
This tablet also supports screen mirroring and HDMI connectivity.
While I don't use this every day, I can see it being useful when streaming videos on the TV or when casting presentations on larger screens, giving me the added flexibility.
MY FINAL THOUGHTS
After spending some time with the LUMOS Tablet Pro, I don't think it's trying to compete with the ultra-premium tablets, but aimed at people who wants the best value for their money.
The LUMOS Tablet Pro is priced at RM798.00 with an optional accessories bundle for only RM99.00 that includes 4 additional items - keyboard, stylus, case and mouse (worth RM250.00). All purchases comes with a 1-year local warranty.
With all of that, suddenly this tablet transforms into a mini workstation.

I found myself imagining situations where this setup would be useful - writing this review in a cafe, replying emails while travelling, attending online meetings, creating on-the-go presentations, taking notes during events, etc.
Is this going replace a high-end laptop? Probably not. But if you're looking for a capable everyday tablet for basic productivity tasks with long battery life, that is also excellent value for money, the LUMOS Tablet Pro is certainly worth considering, because - why spend 3X more for these features?
Till my next write-up. Thanks for reading.
