Yellow Apron Cafe @ Section 13 PJ - Fried Chicken Burger?

After indulging in way too much dessert for breakfast at Tsujiri Malaysia that sunny Saturday morning, I had a dire urge to satiate my savory tastebuds.

Within a short car ride, I arrived at Yellow Apron, at peak lunch hour, very eager to grab some real food.

The cafe is own by the same team behind Humble Pie - yes, you can grab your durian pies here too - serving modern Malaysian cuisine, or in other words, Asian Fusion food.

Before I forget, you can also checkout my Outfit Deets Here.

The Fantastically Fusion Fried Chicken Burger (Rm22.50) was like the name suggests - fantastic. The buttermilk whole chicken thigh came crusty and tender, served with coleslaw, egg and sambal belacan (not the sweet type but the spicy type), which I thought added a nice twang to the overall dish.
Having said that, I regretted my decision to have my burger with homemade chips at the side. The brown chips came over-fried and burn. You'd get to choose between fries, wedges or chips. Clearly, we didn't finish it.
I didn't quite enjoy the Very Colorful Spicy Mushroom Spaghetti (Rm19.50) either. Despite being bland in terms of flavors, the portobello, king oyster shiitake and white shimeiji mushrooms that came with it, was delicious.

Overall Rating: 7/10. I really enjoyed the entire Asian Fusion concept, but the execution probably needed some tweaking. With all honesty, I don't think I will return in the next few months or so, at least until the kitchen finds it's groove. In the meantime, don't make the same mistakes I did, order the Fried Chicken Burger, but with fries or wedges instead.
